Jon Roemer serves as publisher/senior editor in San Francisco. He is the author of the novel Five Windows, published by Dzanc Books, and his writing has appeared at StatORec, The Millions, KGB Lit, The Writer, OZY, San Francisco Chronicle Book Review, 3:AM and elsewhere. His public speaking includes the Editors' Picks panel at Library Journal's Day of Dialogue, Northwestern University's guest lecture program, CSU's Summer Arts program and elsewhere. Jon studied literature and fiction writing at Northwestern and Arizona and has developed creative projects for a handful of Fortune 100 companies.
Outpost19 publishes a wide range of nonfiction and fiction, from traditional narratives to experimental work, including the Short-ish series of novellas and extended essays, and 5 LGBTQ titles exploring new queer experiences.
Outpost19's biennial anthology of California writing engages a new editor for each edition. Lisa Locascio edited Golden State 2017: The Best New Writing from California. Sarah LaBrie edited the 2016 edition, and J. Ryan Stradal edited the 2014 anthology, both of which were titled California Prose Directory. The series was originally conceived and edited by Charles McLeod in 2013.
